Defect
On large trucks with air brakes, the multi-protection valve contains a reducing valve—which switches air pressure between the suspension air tank and the brake air tank on rear-tandem-axle vehicles—whose rubber components are made of an unsuitable material. Oil carried in the compressed air degrades the rubber, causing the reducing valve to fail to decrease air line pressure properly. The resulting high pressure causes the ASR valve to malfunction, producing brake drag. Continued operation with brake drag causes the brakes to overheat and, in the worst case, may result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the multi-protection valve with the corrected part. Additionally, inspect the brake components; if drag is confirmed, replace any affected parts with serviceable units.

状況
②大型トラックのエアブレーキにおいて、マルチプロテクションバルブ（ブレーキのエアラインが失陥した際に失陥したエアライン以外の経路を遮断し他のエアラインのエア圧を確保するもの）内にあるレジューシングバルブ（後２軸車に装着された４バックエアサスペンション用のエアタンクとブレーキのエアタンクの圧力を切り替えるための減圧弁）のゴム部材質が不適切なため、圧縮空気中に含まれる油分によってゴム部が劣化するものがある。そのため、エアラインの減圧不良が生じ高圧になることでＡＳＲバルブが誤作動し、ブレーキの引き摺りを起こすものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けるとブレーキが過熱し、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
②全車両、マルチプロテクションバルブを対策品に交換する。また、ブレーキ周りを点検し、引き摺りの発生が確認された場合には、異常が認められた部品を良品に交換する。
