Defect
On transit buses equipped with an Idling Stop & Start System (ISS), the rubber components used in the starter are made of an inappropriate material, and the flywheel ring gear has insufficient wear margin to withstand frequent ISS-initiated engine starts. Repeated ISS operation causes premature wear of the ring gear. Continued use may result in starter freewheeling and, in the worst case, the engine may become unable to start.
Corrective action
On all affected vehicles, replace the starter with a corrected part and inspect the flywheel ring gear for wear. If wear exceeds the service limit, replace the ring gear with a new part. Additionally, reprogram the ISS control software with the corrected program incorporating ring gear wear countermeasures.

状況
アイドリング・ストップ＆スタート・システム（以下ＩＳＳ）を搭載した路線バスにおいて、スタータに使用されているゴム部品の材質が不適切であること、及びフライホイールリングギヤの摩耗に対する余裕が不足しているため、ＩＳＳによるエンジンの始動を頻繁に行うと、当該リングギヤが早期に摩耗するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、スタータの空転が発生し、最悪の場合、エンジンが始動不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、スタータを対策品に交換すると共にフライホイールリングギヤの摩耗状況を点検し、使用限度を超えていた場合は新品のフライホイールリングギヤに交換する。また、ＩＳＳの制御プログラムをフライホイールリングギヤの摩耗対策品に書き換える。
