Defect
On the parking brake of light-duty trucks, the double nut securing the cable to the lever was insufficiently tightened during assembly, causing the nut to loosen on some units. Continued operation reduces parking brake holding force and, in the worst case, the parking brake may become fully ineffective. The cable may also fracture.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the assembly condition of the parking brake cable. If the cable is in the correct fixed position, torque the nut to the specified value. If it is not in the correct position, replace the cable and torque the nut to the specified value.

状況
小型トラックの駐車ブレーキにおいて、ケーブルをレバーに固定するダブルナットの締付けが不十分なため、当該ナットが緩むものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、駐車ブレーキの制動力が不足し、最悪の場合、駐車ブレーキが効かなくなり、また、ケーブルが折損するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、駐車ブレーキケーブルの組付状態を点検し、固定位置が適正位置にある場合は当該ナットを規定トルクで締付ける。適正位置にない場合はケーブルを交換し、当該ナットを規定トルクで締付ける。
