Filing in context
The Other (Electrical Equipment) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 46 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 15 Toyota notifications from 2011 in this archive. For scale, 1,557 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 7 months.
Defect
In the hybrid system, solder joints on the control circuit board of the DC-AC inverter (power converter) are insufficiently bonded. During high-load driving, heat generated by high current flow may damage components on the board. In the worst case, high-voltage current flows into the control circuitry and blows the power circuit fuse, causing the hybrid system to shut down suddenly while driving and rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, verify the serial number of the power converter. On affected units, replace the module with one incorporating a conforming circuit board.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 2 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
| Type code (型式) | Model | Chassis ranges |
|---|---|---|
| DAA-MHU28W | KLUGER HYBRID | MHU28-0001001 — MHU28-0034426 |
| DAA-MHU38W | HARRIER HYBRID | MHU38-0001001 — MHU38-0049414; MHU38-2000106 — MHU38-2007814 |
