Defect

The hub flange cap on the rear axle provides insufficient water resistance, allowing water to enter and cause rust on the spline joint that connects the axle shaft to the hub flange. Continued use allows the rust to progress, causing abnormal wear of the spline. In the worst case, the spline can no longer transmit drive force, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

Inspect all vehicles. On any vehicle where rust is found around the spline, replace the affected parts with corrected parts.

状況

後車軸のハブフランジキャップ部の防水性が不十分なため、内部に水が浸入し、アクスルシャフトとハブフランジを結合するスプライン部が錆びるものがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、錆が進行して、スプライン部が異常に摩滅し、最悪の場合、駆動力が伝達されず、走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両点検し、スプライン周辺部が錆びているものは対策品に交換する。
