Defect

On vehicles equipped with an Intelligent Key, the machining specification for the rod section of the key cylinder in the steering lock mechanism is incorrect, resulting in an oversized rod on some units. As a result, the steering lock mechanism may activate when the steering wheel is turned even with the ignition knob in the OFF position and the shift lever in a range other than P. (Note: Because preparation of the corrected parts requires additional time, owners whose vehicles require replacement will be notified not to rotate the ignition knob to the OFF position while the vehicle is in motion.)

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the steering lock mechanism for activation with the ignition knob in the OFF position. If activation is confirmed, replace the key cylinder with a corrected part.

状況

インテリジェントキー付車のかじ取り装置の施錠装置において、キーシリンダーのロッド部の加工指示が不適切なため、ロッド部分が長いものがある。そのため、イグニッションノブがオフの位置でシフトレバーがPレンジ以外の位置であっても、ハンドルを操作すると、当該施錠装置が作動するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、施錠装置の作動を点検し、イグニッションノブがオフ位置で作動する場合は、キーシリンダーを対策品と交換する。尚、対策品の準備に時間を要するため、点検の結果、対策品への交換が必要なユーザーには、走行中にイグニッションノブをオフ位置まで回転させるような使い方をしないよう、注意喚起を行なう。
