Defect
Analysis of field-returned passenger-seat airbag inflators has confirmed that certain inflator housings have inadequate airtight seals. Over extended use, atmospheric moisture may penetrate the inflator interior, causing the propellant to absorb moisture and fail to deploy normally during airbag deployment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, as a precautionary measure, inspect the airtight integrity of the inflator housing. Inflators that fail the airtight inspection will be replaced with new units or the passenger airbag function will be deactivated and a warning indicating that the airbag is non-operational will be displayed on the passenger sun visor. As replacement parts become available, inflators will be replaced with new units in order of vehicle age. All removed parts will be collected for root cause analysis.

状況
助手席用エアバッグのインフレータ（膨張装置）において、市場回収品を調査した結果、インフレータ容器に気密不良のものがあることを確認した。そのため、長期間使用する過程で大気中の水分がインフレータ内部に浸入してガス発生剤が吸湿し、エアバッグ展開時に正常に展開しないおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、予防的措置として、当該インフレータ容器の気密点検を行ない、気密不良のものはインフレータを新品と交換、または、助手席エアバッグの機能を停止するとともに、助手席サンバイザ部に当該エアバッグが作動しない旨の警告を表示する。 また、交換用部品が準備できた段階で、年式の古いものから順次新品と交換する。なお、交換部品については全数回収して原因調査を実施する。
