Defect

In the variable-nozzle turbocharger fitted to the engine, the link mechanism that regulates intake air volume is defective. When transitioning from low to high engine speed, the variable nozzle may fail to return to its proper position, causing the turbine to over-speed and develop cracks. Continued use in this condition may cause the turbine blade to fracture, producing white smoke and, in the worst case, causing the engine to stall.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the control software and add a stopper to the link mechanism. Verify the serial number of the variable-nozzle turbocharger and, if applicable, replace it with a conforming unit.

状況

原動機の可変ノズル付過給機において、 ③吸入空気量を調節するリンク機構が不適切なため、低回転域から高回転域に移行する際、可変ノズルの戻り不良が発生し、タービンが過回転となり亀裂が発生するものがある。 そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、タービン翼が破損して白煙が発生し、最悪の場合、エンジンが停止するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、制御プログラムの書き換え並びに当該リンクにストッパを追加するとともに、可変ノズル付過給機の製造番号を確認し、該当するものは可変ノズル付過給機を良品と交換する。
