Defect
The impeller used in the fuel pump to pressurize fuel is made of an improper material that causes it to swell and deform due to fuel constituents, leading to interference with the impeller case. Continued operation under this condition may cause the impeller to seize and stop rotating, disabling the fuel pump. In the worst case, the engine will stall and cannot be restarted.
Corrective action
On all affected vehicles, replace the fuel pump with a corrected part incorporating a revised impeller material. For Swift models, replace with the previous-specification part used in vehicles manufactured before October 2004.

状況
燃料ポンプにおいて、燃料を圧送する羽根車(インペラ)の材質が不適切なため、当該インペラが燃料成分により膨潤変形してインペラケースと干渉する場合がある。そのためそのまま使用を続けると、最悪の場合、インペラが回転しなくなり燃料ポンプが作動せず、エンジンが停止し、再始動できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、燃料ポンプをインペラの材質を変更した対策品と交換する。なお、スイフトについては従来品(平成16年10月以前の製作車に使用のもの)と交換する。
