Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Nissan & Suzuki.
The Fuel Pump is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 57 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 35 Nissan notifications from 2014 in this archive. For scale, 820 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 years and 11 months.
Defect
On all-wheel-drive vehicles, the high-pressure fuel pump filter section has an improper shape. When the fuel tank contains elevated moisture, driving wind in extremely low ambient temperatures may cause moisture in the fuel lines to freeze and block the filter with ice. This reduces the fuel injection volume, causing unstable engine operation. In the worst case, the engine may stall while driving.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the high-pressure fuel pump with a corrected part.
