Defect
Micro-cracks may be present in the solder joints on the circuit board of the airbag control unit. Vibration during driving can propagate these cracks, causing poor electrical continuity in the circuit. Depending on the location of the cracked solder joint, the warning light may fail to illuminate and the airbag may not deploy in a collision. Alternatively, the fail-safe function may activate, illuminating the warning light while also disabling airbag deployment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the airbag control unit with a known-good unit.

状況
エアバッグの作動を制御するコントロール・ユニットの基板回路の半田部に微細な亀裂が 発生しているものがあるため、走行中の振動等により半田部の亀裂が進行して、回路が導 通不良となることがある。そのため、半田部の亀裂箇所によっては、警告灯が点灯せず、 衝突時にエアバッグが作動しないおそれがある。また、フェールセーフ機能がはたらいて 警告灯が点灯するとともに、エアバッグが作動しなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該コントロール・ユニットを良品と交換する。
