Issue

On vehicles equipped with an electro-hydraulic power steering system, an inappropriate manufacturing process used on the high-pressure hydraulic line may leave rust on the interior surface of the pipe. This rust damages the bearing surfaces of the gears inside the hydraulic pump, increasing sliding resistance. Continued use raises the load on the motor driving the pump, illuminating a warning light and increasing the steering effort required at the wheel.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, flush the power steering system hydraulic circuit, replace the pump with a new unit, and replace the complete hydraulic line set with the corrected parts.

状況

電動油圧式パワーステアリングにおいて、高圧側配管の製造工程が不適切なため、当該配管の内面に錆が発生しているものがある。そのため、錆により油圧ポンプ内のギヤの軸受部が傷ついて摺動抵抗が増加し、そのまま使用を続けると、当該ポンプを駆動するモータの負荷が増加して警告灯が点灯するとともに、ハンドルの操作力が増大するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、パワーステアリングシステムの油圧経路を洗浄するとともに、ポンプを新品に、当該配管一式を対策品に交換する。
