Defect

The cap assembly structure on the regulator valve of the fuel pump mounted inside the fuel tank was improperly designed. Prolonged exposure to fuel causes the cap to swell, loosening the engagement between the cap and the valve case. If an impact — such as the vehicle rolling over a curb — is transmitted to the fuel tank, the cap may separate and the regulator valve may fall out, cutting off fuel supply. This may cause the engine to stall and be unable to restart.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, install a retention clip on the locking tabs of the regulator valve cap to prevent separation.

状況

②燃料タンク内に取り付けている燃料ポンプのレギュレータバルブのキャップ組み付け構 造が不適切なため、ガソリンの浸漬により当該キャップが膨潤し、キャップとケース組み 付け部の噛み合わせが緩くなるものがある。そのため、縁石等を乗り越した衝撃が燃料タ ンクに加わると、当該キャップが外れ、レギュレータバルブが脱落して燃料が供給されな くなり、エンジンが停止して再始動できなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

②全車両、レギュレータバルブキャップの爪部に外れ防止クリップを追加する。
