Issue
The plastic bracket inside the fuel pump may swell non-uniformly due to the influence of glass fiber orientation after the vehicle is refueled with gasoline, if the bracket was immersed for an extended period in test oil used during fuel pump manufacturing. The non-uniform swelling may cause the bracket to interfere with the impeller. If swelling progresses while the vehicle is parked and interference resistance increases, the engine may fail to start. Alternatively, wear debris generated at the interference point during use may become wedged between the bracket and the impeller while driving, causing the fuel pump to stop, the engine to stall, and the engine to be unable to restart.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel pump unit with a corrected part.

状況
燃料ポンプ内の樹脂製ブラケットが、燃料ポンプ製造時に使用した試験油に長期間浸漬されると、その後ガソリンを給油した際に、ガラス繊維の配向の影響により不均一な膨潤となり、インペラと干渉することがある。そのため、停車中に膨潤が進んで干渉部の抵抗が大きくなると始動できなくなるおそれがある。又は、使用に伴い干渉部分から摩耗粉が生じ、走行中に摩耗粉がブラケットとインペラ間に噛み込むと燃料ポンプが停止してエンストし、再始動できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、燃料ポンプユニットを対策品と交換する。
