Defect

The mounting plates that secure the rear axle to the vehicle body on the oscillating rear axle attachment have insufficient strength. Continued operation on severely uneven road surfaces causes the plates to deform and the mounting bolts to loosen. In the worst case, the mounting bolts can fall out, the anti-withdrawal plates can detach, and the rear axle can separate from the vehicle body, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the mounting plates and mounting bolts with corrected parts.
