Defect

The rubber element of the propeller shaft center bearing has insufficient strength. Shock torque transmitted from the engine and transmission during vehicle launch or uphill driving can crack the rubber. This overloads the center bearing holder and, in the worst case, may cause the holder to fracture and the propeller shaft to separate from the vehicle, resulting in loss of mobility.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the center bearing rubber and holder with corrected parts.
