Defect

The bolts securing the idler arm bracket to the frame were overtorqued during assembly, causing the bolt shanks to elongate slightly and reducing their clamping force. This allows excessive stress to develop in the idler arm bracket, which may cause the bracket to crack. Continued operation in this condition may cause the bracket to fracture and, in the worst case, result in loss of steering control.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the idler arm bracket and replace it with a new unit if any crack is found. Additionally, on all vehicles, replace the mounting bolts with new units and torque them to the specified value.

状況

②かじ取装置のアイドラアームブラケットをフレームに取り付けるボルトを過大なトルク  で締め付けたため、当該ボルトの長さが僅かに伸びボルトの軸力が低下し、その結果ア  イドラアームブラケットに過大な応力が生じ、当該アイドラアームブラケットに亀裂が  生じるものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けるとアイドラアームブラケ  ットが折損し、最悪の場合、かじ取操作ができなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

②全車両、アイドラアームブラケットを点検し、亀裂が入っている場合は新品と交換する  。  また、全車両、取り付けボルトを新品に交換し、正規の締め付けトルクで取り付ける。
