Defect

Oil used during press forming of the brake pedal bracket accumulates in recesses on the bracket. In service, this pooled oil migrates into the contact area of the brake light switch, where it carbonizes and causes poor electrical continuity. As a result, the brake lights may fail to illuminate and the shift lock function of the automatic transmission may become inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, wipe away any oil adhering around the brake pedal bracket and replace the brake light switch with a new part.

状況

 灯火装置において、ブレーキ・ペダル・ブラケットをプレス加工する際に使用するオイ ルが当該ブラケットの窪みの部分に溜まったものがあり、そのままの状態で使用すると、 溜まったオイルが制動灯スイッチの接点部に侵入し炭化することにより、接点の導通が不 良となって制動灯が点灯しなくなるとともに自動変速機のシフトロック機能が解除できな くなるおそれがある。

改善措置

 全車両、ブレーキ・ペダル・ブラケット周辺に付着したオイルを拭き取るとともに当該 スイッチを新品に交換する。
