Defect
On compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, oil introduced into the fuel gas during the compression of natural gas may accumulate on the fuel flow sensor inside the gas valve that detects and controls fuel gas flow. Continued use causes erroneous fuel flow readings, resulting in unstable engine idling. In the worst case, the engine may stall.
Corrective action
Inspect all vehicles. Where the gas valve is found to be affected by oil contamination, replace it with a corrected part, remove the existing fuel filter, and install an oil-separating filter. Update the owner's manual to reflect the oil-separating filter in place of the fuel filter, and affix a label describing oil-separating filter handling procedures to the CNG cylinder protective cover.

状況
圧縮天然ガス車(CNG車)において、燃料ガスの流量を検知・制御しているガスバルブ 内部に天然ガスを圧縮する際に燃料ガス中に混入する油が当該ガスバルブ内部の燃料流量 センサに付着することがあり、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、燃料流量の誤検知が発 生し、アイドリング不安定となり、最悪の場合、原動機が停止するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両点検し、当該ガスバルブが油の影響を受けているものは良品と交換すると共に燃料 フィルターを廃止し、油分離用フィルターを追加する。また、取扱説明書の燃料フィルタ ーの記載内容を油分離用フィルターの記載内容に変更し、CNGボンベ保護カバーに油分 離用フィルターの取扱方法を記載したラベルを貼付する。
