Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Nissan & Suzuki.
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Fuel rail as the affected component. This filing is one of 41 Nissan notifications from 2012 in this archive. For scale, 491 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 2 months.
Defect
The fuel pressure sensor mounted on the engine's fuel supply rail was insufficiently tightened during assembly. Engine vibration and related forces can cause the sensor to loosen further over time. As a result, fuel may leak along the threads at the sensor mounting point.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the fuel pressure sensor mounting point for fuel leaks. On vehicles with no leak present, retighten the sensor to the specified torque. On vehicles where a leak is found, replace the mounting point gasket with a new part and retighten the sensor to the specified torque.
