Issue

The electrical circuit that displays starter switch operation on training vehicles is incorrectly designed. When the rider-operation indicator lamp is switched from the engine-stopped state to the starter switch operation state, the side stand safety interlock — which stops the engine if the rider attempts to ride with the side stand extended — is disabled. As a result, the motorcycle can be ridden with the side stand extended, and in the worst case, the side stand may contact the ground and cause the vehicle to fall.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, add a diode-equipped electrical wiring harness to the starter switch operation display circuit.
