Filing in context
The Engine assembly is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 23 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 18 Honda notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 752 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 9 months.
Defect
In the engine assembly, improper process controls during manufacturing of the crankcase and transmission case result in insufficient sealing at the mating surfaces, allowing transmission oil to leak. The oil loss causes inadequate lubrication and abnormal noise. Continued operation can damage the bearings inside the case and, in the worst case, cause the rear wheel to lock during riding, resulting in a fall.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, measure the transmission oil level. If the level is below the specified value, replace the transmission case with a non-defective unit and replace the bearings and related parts with new components. If the level meets the specified value, clean the case mating surfaces, apply gasket sealant, and reassemble. Note: Because parts procurement requires additional time, owners will be notified of the defect now and contacted again once parts are available.
Affected models & chassis ranges
This filing lists 2 type code(s). A vehicle is affected if its chassis number falls within one of the ranges below.
| Type code (型式) | Model | Chassis ranges |
