Defect
The grease material used to lubricate the stop switch contacts and the assembly of the switch onto the brake lever bracket are both improper. Arc discharge between the switch contacts carbonizes the grease. Continued use causes the carbonized grease to generate heat, melting the resin inside the switch. This may result in the movable contact malfunctioning so that the brake lamp illuminates even when the brake lever is not applied. Alternatively, poor continuity at the contact may prevent the brake lamp from illuminating when the lever is applied and may prevent the engine from starting.
Corrective action
Replace the stop switch on all vehicles with a corrected part. Because procurement of parts requires additional time, owners will be notified of the defect details now and contacted again once parts are available.

状況
ストップスイッチ接点潤滑用グリースの材質及び当該スイッチのブレーキレバーブラケット組付作業が不適切なため、スイッチ接点間のアーク放電によりグリースが炭化することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、炭化したグリースによる発熱でスイッチ内の樹脂が溶けて、接点部の可動接点が作動不良により、ブレーキレバーを握らなくても制動灯が点灯する。または、接点部の導通不良により、ブレーキレバーを握っても制動灯が点灯せず、エンジンが始動できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ストップスイッチを対策品と交換する。 なお、部品の準備に時間を要することから、不具合内容を周知し、準備でき次第、改めて連絡する。
