Defect
Due to insufficient design consideration, the reinforcement on the side guard (underride prevention device) stay is positioned in close proximity to the fuel tank band that secures the fuel tank. During vehicle operation, road-induced movement causes the side guard stay reinforcement to contact and interfere with the fuel tank band. In the worst case, the fuel tank band may fracture, allowing the fuel tank to detach and become a hazard to other traffic.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the clearance between the side guard stay reinforcement and the fuel tank band. On vehicles where the reinforcement is in close proximity to the fuel tank band, replace the side guard stay reinforcement with the corrected part.

状況
サイドガード(巻込防止装置)において、設計検討が不十分なため、サイドガードステーの補強部が燃料タンクを固定する燃料タンクバンドに近接しているものがある。そのため、走行中の車両揺動によりサイドガードステー補強部と燃料タンクバンドが干渉し、最悪の場合、燃料タンクバンドが破損し、燃料タンクが脱落して他の交通の妨げになるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、サイドガードステー補強部と燃料タンクバンドのクリアランスを点検し、サイドガードステー補強部が燃料タンクバンドに近接しているものは、サイドガードステーの補強部を対策品に交換する。
