Defect

When repairing vehicles by replacing the legacy central chassis input/output module with the current-production unit, the software reprogramming instructions are incorrect. As a result, the air dryer regeneration software is not updated to the latest version, causing the desiccant regeneration cycle to run at insufficient frequency. The desiccant's moisture absorption capacity degrades, and high-humidity compressed air condenses inside the air tank and air system circuits, generating water accumulation. Continued operation under these conditions may cause vehicle height adjustment malfunctions. In the worst case, in sub-freezing ambient temperatures: (1) condensed water in the trailer-side brake circuit may freeze, rendering the trailer's service brakes inoperative or causing a vehicle fire due to parking brake drag; and (2) moisture remaining in brake system air valves may freeze, triggering brake fault warning messages and causing the electronic brake system (EBS) to malfunction.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the central chassis input/output module to the latest software version. If service brake fault or vehicle height adjustment system fault warning messages are displayed, perform fault diagnosis, replace the affected parts with new components, and purge the air from the pneumatic lines.

状況

電制エアドライヤにおいて、修理でセントラルシャシ入出力モジュールの旧型を現行型に交換する際のプログラム書き込み指示が不適切なため、エアドライヤの再生プログラムに関するソフトウェアが最新版に更新されていない。そのため、エアドライヤの乾燥再生動作が適切な頻度で実行されず、乾燥剤の吸湿能力が低下し、高湿度圧縮空気がエアタンク及び各エアシステム回路内で結露し凝縮水が生成される。そのままの状態で使用を続けると、凝縮水の影響により車高調整不良等が発生することがある。さらに、最悪の場合、外気温が氷点下の環境において、1トレーラ側ブレーキ回路内で凝縮水が凍結し、トレーラ側の主ブレーキが効かない、または駐車ブレーキ引きずりにより火災に至るおそれがある。2ブレーキ系のエアバルブ内に残留した水分が凍結し、ブレーキ異常の警告メッセージが表示されるとともに、電子制御ブレーキシステム(EBS)が作動不良に至るおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、セントラルシャシ入出力モジュールのプログラムを、最新版に書き換える。なお、主ブレーキ異常および車高調整システム異常の警告メッセージが表示されている場合は、故障診断を行い該当する部品を新品に交換し、エア配管内の空気をパージする。
