Filing in context
The Computer (Control Unit) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 7 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 2,784 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 10 months.
Defect
On electric small trucks, an error in the EPB ECU control software causes the EPB warning light and Hill Start Assist (HSA) warning light to illuminate if the EPB release operation is performed while the EV system is still starting up following key-on. As a result, even though the EPB activation warning light is off, the EPB remains engaged and the vehicle cannot be driven.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the EPB ECU control software to the corrected specification.
