Filing in context
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 10 Daihatsu notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 4,648 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 months.
Defect
On vehicles converted to electric vehicle configuration, the high-voltage harness connector section of the integrated DCDC converter and on-board charger unit has inadequate waterproofing. During driving in rain or similar conditions, water may enter the connector. Continued use in this condition degrades insulation in the high-voltage circuit, causing the fail-safe function to cut power supply. This may render the vehicle inoperable or prevent charging.
Corrective action
Apply sealant to the high-voltage harness connector sections (two locations) on all vehicles.
