Defect

On the CVT (continuously variable transmission), some units have improperly torqued bolts securing the drive plate to the torque converter. Continued use may cause these bolts to loosen and fall out, producing abnormal noise. In the worst case, a dropped bolt may become wedged between the drive plate and the torque converter housing, causing an engine stall from which the engine cannot be restarted.

Corrective action

Replace the CVT, drive plate, and bolts on all vehicles.
