Defect
On large trucks equipped with the 6R20 engine, the exhaust rocker arm adjust screw has insufficient lubrication performance. During extended idling operation, the adjust screw wears prematurely and may fracture, producing abnormal noise and a reduction in engine output. Continued use in this condition may cause the valve bridge to dislodge and damage the engine. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
As a permanent corrective part requires additional preparation time, an interim measure will be implemented for all vehicles: a leaflet describing procedures to follow when extended idling is necessary will be enclosed with a direct mail notification, distributed to owners, and kept on board the vehicle. Owners will be contacted again by direct mail once the permanent corrective part is ready.

状況
６Ｒ２０型エンジンを搭載した大型トラックにおいて、排気ロッカーアームのアジャストスクリューの潤滑性能が不十分なため、長時間のアイドル運転を行うと早期にアジャストスクリューが摩耗及び破損して異音や出力の低下が生じることがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、バルブブリッジが脱落してエンジンが破損し、最悪の場合、走行不能に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、恒久対策の準備に時間を要するため、暫定措置として長時間のアイドリング運転を行う場合の対処方法を記載したリーフレットをダイレクトメールに同封して配布し、車載して頂く。 なお、恒久対策の準備が整い次第、ダイレクトメールにて再度連絡する。
