Defect
On large transit buses, the flywheel ring gear has insufficient strength. Frequent engine starts by the idling stop-and-start system can cause the gear teeth to fracture, preventing engine restart. In the worst case, fractured gear fragments may become trapped between the flywheel housing and the ring gear, puncturing the flywheel housing and causing an engine oil leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the ring gear and flywheel with corrected parts.

状況
大型路線バスにおいて、フライホイールリングギヤの強度が不足しているため、アイドリングストップ&スタートシステムによるエンジンの始動を頻繁に行うと、当該ギヤ端部が破損してエンジンの再始動が出来なくなり、最悪の場合、欠落したギヤの破片がフライホイールハウジングとリングギヤの間に噛み込んでフライホイールハウジングに穴が開き、エンジンオイルが漏れるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、リングギヤとフライホイールを対策品に交換する。
