Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 3 manufacturers: Daihatsu, Subaru & Toyota.
The Other Equipment is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 32 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 10 Daihatsu notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 604 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 8 months.
Defect
On the pre-collision safety system (Smart Assist) camera, inadequate process control during the adhesive bonding of the camera mounting bracket to the windshield glass has resulted in insufficient bond strength on some units. The bracket may detach during vehicle use and, in the worst case, fall into the driver's forward field of view while the vehicle is in motion, failing to meet the visibility standards for the driver's seating position. Additionally, the detached bracket's edge geometry may fail to meet the occupant protection standards for interior equipment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, apply adhesive reinforcement material to the camera bracket.
