Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 3 manufacturers: Daihatsu, Subaru & Toyota.
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Front Fog Lamps as the affected component. This filing is one of 10 Daihatsu notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 721 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 5 months.
Defect
On the front LED fog lamps, inadequate process control during manufacturing has resulted in an insufficient amount of solder applied to some LED chips. Continued use in this condition allows the solder joint to detach, causing the fog lamp to dim and, in the worst case, fail to illuminate entirely.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the front fog lamp LED socket with a conforming replacement part.
