Filing in context
The Fuel Tank is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 79 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 18 Honda notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 158 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 8 months.
Defect
The impeller (resin vane wheel) of the low-pressure fuel pump was molded under improper conditions, resulting in low resin density. The impeller may absorb fuel and swell, causing deformation. The deformed impeller contacts the pump cover, leading to fuel pump malfunction. In the worst case, the engine may stall while driving.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the low-pressure fuel pump with the corrected part.
