Defect
On vehicles equipped with an idling stop system, the ECO motor's internal bearing uses an inadequate seal specification, resulting in insufficient sealing performance. Foreign matter may enter the bearing, causing bearing damage and abnormal noise. Continued operation may lead to ECO motor failure and engine stall. If flammable substances such as engine oil spilled during maintenance are present on surrounding components, the heat and sparks expelled from the motor's opening upon failure may ignite those components. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the ECO motor with the corrected part. As an interim measure until the corrected part is available, install a heat shield cover. Owners will be notified again once parts are available for the full replacement.

状況
アイドリングストップ付車のECOモータにおいて、内部ベアリングのシール仕様が不適切なため、シール性能が不足し異物が侵入するとベアリングが破損し異音が発生することがある。そのまま継続して使用した場合、ECOモータが故障しエンジンが停止するおそれがある。万が一、周辺部品に整備時等でこぼれたエンジンオイル等の可燃物がある場合、ECOモータ故障に伴う熱風と火花が開口部から吐出し周辺部品が焼損することがあり、最悪の場合、火災にいたるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ECOモータを対策品に交換する。 なお、対策品の準備ができるまでの間、遮熱カバーを取り付け、部品準備ができしだい改めて案内し対策品に交換する。
