Defect

On the ignition switch, the wiring harness is routed and secured at an incorrect position, causing the wiring to bend sharply when the steering is turned to full lock. Continued use subjects the wiring to repeated flexing, which may result in a broken wire. In the worst case, the engine may stall and fail to restart.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the ignition switch wiring with the corrected part, relocate the wiring anchor point, and secure the wiring to the right handlebar switch harness with a cable tie.
