Filing in context
The Fuel System (Other) is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 9 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 8 Lexus notifications from 2022 in this archive. For scale, 531 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 6 years and 9 months.
Defect
In the evaporative emission control device mounted to the fuel tank, the geometry of the upper resin case surface is incorrect, allowing minute cracks to develop in the case during normal use. Continued long-term use allows the cracks to propagate through the case wall. In the worst case, fuel may leak when the tank is full, resulting in a fuel odor.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the evaporative emission control device with the corrected/revised part.
