Filing in context
The Seat Belt is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 55 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 16 Honda notifications from 2020 in this archive. For scale, 1,713 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles.
Defect
In the rear seat belts, improper calibration of the assembly equipment has caused the spring in the belt retractor lock mechanism to be installed in a bent condition. The deformed spring interferes with surrounding components, and as a result the seat belt may fail to lock when pulled out rapidly.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the manufacturing number of the affected rear seat belt. If identified as affected, replace the seat belt with a conforming part.
