Defect
On large route buses, the engine ECU control program is improper, allowing peak combustion pressure to exceed the allowable limit for the connecting rod. Continued operation under these conditions causes cracks to develop in the connecting rod. In the worst case, the connecting rod may fracture, rendering the vehicle inoperable and causing a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
Because additional time is required to verify the necessity of inspecting and replacing the connecting rod, all vehicles will receive, as an interim measure, a reprogram of the engine ECU control program with corrected software. A permanent remedy will be implemented once finalized.

状況
大型路線バスにおいて、エンジンECUの制御プログラムが不適切なため、最大燃焼圧力がコンロッドの許容限度を超える場合がある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、コンロッドに亀裂が生じ、最悪の場合、コンロッドが破損して走行不能及び火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
コンロッドの点検及び交換の必要性について検証に時間を要するため、全車両、暫定措置として、エンジンECUの制御プログラムを対策品に書き換える。 なお、対策が決定次第、恒久対策を実施する。
