Filing in context

The Horn is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 13 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 17 Suzuki notifications from 2020 in this archive. For scale, 813 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 4 years and 8 months.

Defect

In the horn switch, inadequate surface treatment of the electrical contacts allows water and dust to enter the switch. Continued operation under these conditions causes contact corrosion, resulting in poor conductivity. As a result, the horn may fail to sound.

Corrective action

Replace the horn switch on all vehicles with a corrected part. On vehicles where no boot is installed on the switch case side, add a boot.
