Defect

On large tractors, the spare tire carrier bracket has retainer fixing bolts that are welded to the bracket with insufficient strength. Tightening the retainer fixing nuts to the specified torque may stretch the bolts under tensile load. Vibration during driving may then cause the bolts to fracture. In the worst case, the winch fixing screw breaks and separates from the bracket, allowing the spare tire to fall from the vehicle together with the carrier.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the spare tire carrier bracket with the corrected/revised part and replace the retainer fixing nuts with new units.

状況

 大型トラクタのスペアタイヤキャリアにおいて、ブラケットに溶接されたリテーナー固定ボルトの強度が不足しているため、リテーナー固定ナットを規定トルクで締め付けると、当該ボルトが引張荷重で伸びることがある。そのため、走行時の振動等によりボルトが破断し、最悪の場合、ウインチの固定スクリューが折損してブラケットから外れ、スペアタイヤとともに脱落するおそれがある。

改善措置

 全車両、当該キャリアブラケットを対策品に交換し、リテーナー固定ナットを新品に交換する。
