Defect

The engine control unit software contains an error in the engine shutdown control logic, causing excessive current to flow through the ignition coils after the engine stops. This raises the internal temperature of the ignition coils, resulting in a short circuit and blown fuse. In the worst case, the engine may stall while the vehicle is in motion.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the ignition coils and reprogram the engine control unit with the corrected software. If an ignition coil shows damage, replace it with a new unit.

状況

エンジンコントロールユニットの制御プログラムにおいて、エンジンが停止する際の制御が不適切なため、イグニッションコイルへ必要以上に通電することがある。そのため、イグニッションコイルの内部温度が上昇し回路がショート、ヒューズ切れを起こし、最悪の場合、走行中エンジンが停止するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、イグニッションコイルを点検しエンジンコントロールユニットの制御プログラムを対策プログラムに書き換える。イグニッションコイルに損傷がある場合は、イグニッションコイルを新品に交換する。
