Filing in context
The Wiring is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 236 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 37 Isuzu notifications from 2017 in this archive. For scale, 3,095 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 5 months.
Defect
On large fixed-route buses, improperly routed wiring inside the driver's-side wall panel allows the wiring to contact the edge of the wall panel bracket. Continued operation can damage the wiring insulation, causing a short circuit. In the worst case, the doors may become unable to open or close.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, add protective material to the driver's-side wall panel bracket. Inspect the wiring in the affected area and repair any damaged wiring.
