Defect
In taxi-specification vehicles, the spiral cable mounted on the steering column has an inadequate internal wire retention structure, causing the wiring to interfere with surrounding components during large steering angle inputs. Repeated large-angle steering maneuvers wear the wiring through this interference. In the worst case, the wiring may suffer a broken wire, resulting in horn inoperability or illumination of the airbag warning lamp.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the spiral cable with a corrected part.
