Defect
The control unit calculation program in the combination meter is improper, causing the low-fuel warning lamp to fail to illuminate at the specified fuel level and the in-meter display to show an excessive remaining driving range. A driver who relies on the displayed range and continues driving may exhaust the fuel supply, causing the vehicle to stop.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the combination meter control unit with the corrected/updated software.
