Filing in context

The Exhaust emission reduction device is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 11 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 30 Toyota notifications from 2018 in this archive. Defect

On diesel vehicles, the EGR cooler (recirculated gas cooling unit) of the exhaust gas recirculation system contains a bypass pipe with insufficient strength. Repeated thermal cycling may cause cracks to develop at the pipe connection. Continued use in this condition may result in exhaust emissions exceeding the regulatory limit values.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the EGR cooler with the corrected part.
