Defect
On four-wheel-drive medium-duty trucks configured as fire trucks, refuse trucks, or tank trucks, the snap ring that retains the transfer case output shaft has insufficient strength. Repeated aggressive starts may cause the snap ring to fracture. As a result, the output shaft can pull out of the transfer case, disengaging the spline coupling and cutting drive force to the front axle, leaving the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the complete output shaft assembly, including the snap ring, with a corrected/revised part.

状況
消防車、塵芥車及びタンクローリ仕様の四輪駆動式中型トラックにおいて、トランスファのアウトプットシャフト抜け出し防止用スナップリングの強度が不足しているため、急発進を繰り返すと当該リングが折損することがある。そのため、アウトプットシャフトがトランスファから抜け出し、スプラインの嵌合が外れ前輪に駆動力を伝達できなくなり、走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、スナップリングを含むアウトプットシャフト一式を対策品と交換する。
