Defect

On the gas-filled open stay of the tailgate, the paint applied to the outer tube's end cap is improper, allowing corrosion to develop due to salt exposure in coastal environments. Continued use allows the corrosion to progress, causing the outer tube to swell and the end cap to crack. When the tailgate is subsequently opened, the outer tube may break apart. In the worst case, bystanders in the vicinity may be injured.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the gas-filled open stay assembly with the corrected/revised part.

状況

 テールゲートのガス封入式オープンステーにおいて、外筒のエンドキャップ部の塗装が不適切なため、沿岸地域の塩分の影響で腐食することがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、腐食が進行し、外筒が膨らみエンドキャップが割れ、テールゲートを開く際に外筒が破損し、最悪の場合、周囲の人が負傷するおそれがある。

改善措置

 全車両、ガス封入式オープンステーアッセンブリを対策品と交換する。
