Defect
On large and medium-duty trucks, the input shaft flange of the inter-axle differential is improperly manufactured, causing the input shaft to be out of rotational balance on some units. The resulting imbalance damages the bearings. Continued use leads to bearing seizure and fracture of the input shaft, which may, in the worst case, cause the propeller shaft to detach and render the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the inter-axle differential with a conforming unit. Additionally, inspect the differential oil level; if the oil level is insufficient, replace the complete differential carrier assembly with a conforming unit. Because full parts supply will take time, inspect for oil leaks first and replace the inter-axle differential on vehicles showing leaks on a priority basis.

状況
大型・中型トラックのインタアクスルディファレンシャルにおいて、インプットシャフトフランジの製造が不適切なため、インプットシャフトの回転バランスがとれていないものがある。そのため、インプットシャフトの回転がアンバランスとなり、ベアリングが損傷し、そのまま使用を続けると、ベアリングが焼き付き、インプットシャフトが折損して、最悪の場合、プロペラシャフトが脱落して走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、インタアクスルディファレンシャルを良品と交換する。また、ディファレンシャルオイル量を点検し、オイル量が不足している場合は、ディファレンシャルキャリア一式を良品と交換する。なお、交換用部品の全数供給に時間を要することから、オイル漏れの点検を行い、漏れが認められた車両から順次、インタアクスルディファレンシャルを良品と交換する。
