Defect
In the rear-rear axle differential of certain low-floor, rear-tandem-drive heavy-duty trucks, the cage that retains the drive pinion gear bearing was improperly machined. This creates play at the mating surface between the cage and the carrier, causing the drive pinion gear shaft to shift and reducing the mesh depth with the ring gear. Continued use may cause the ring gear to fracture. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the rear-rear axle differential carrier assembly will be replaced with a conforming unit.

状況
低床式後2軸駆動の大型トラックの後後軸ディファレンシャル(差動装置)において、ドライブピニオンギヤの軸受を保持するケージの加工が不適切なため、ケージとキャリアの嵌合部にガタが生じ、ドライブピニオンギヤの軸がずれて、リングギヤとの噛み合いが浅くなる。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、リングギヤが欠損し、最悪の場合、走行できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、後後軸のディファレンシャルキャリア一式を良品と交換する。
