Defect
On heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks, the inter-axle differential input shaft flange is improperly manufactured, resulting in rotational imbalance of the input shaft. This imbalance causes bearing damage, and continued use leads to bearing seizure and fracture of the input shaft. In the worst case, the propeller shaft may separate from the vehicle, rendering it inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the inter-axle differential assembly with a conforming unit. Additionally, inspect the differential oil level; if the oil level is insufficient, replace the differential carrier assembly in its entirety with a conforming unit. Because full parts availability requires additional time, an oil leak inspection will be performed first, and vehicles found to have leaks will be prioritized for inter-axle differential replacement.

状況
大型・中型トラックのインタアクスルディファレンシャルにおいて、インプットシャフトフランジの製造が不適切なため、インプットシャフトの回転バランスがとれていないものがある。そのため、インプットシャフトの 回転がアンバランスとなり、ベアリングが損傷し、そのまま使用を続けると、ベアリングが焼き付き、インプットシャフトが折損して、最悪の場合、プロペラシャフトが脱落して走行不能となるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、インタアクスルディファレンシャルを良品と交換する。また、ディファレンシャルオイル量を点検し、オイル量が不足している場合は、ディファレンシャルキャリア一式を良品と交換する。なお、交換用部品の全数供給に時間を要することから、オイル漏れの点検を行い、漏れが認められた車両から順次、インタアクスルディファレンシャルを良品と交換する。
